Context
What is Lingotune?
Lingotune ↗ is a language-learning with music app. By utilizing music with language lessons, learning language becomes a much easier and more memorable task!
Problem
What issue is Lingotune facing?
Lingotune's confusing song lesson navigation was jeopardizing user retention and driving users away.
With the current app, test sessions revealed that users were…
Tapping repeatedly out of frustration, instinctively swiping horizontally, and a few thought there was only one song available.
💡 This indicated that there was a clear issue in Lingotune's current song navigation system, risking user drop-off.
Goal
How Might I…
redesign the song lesson navigation to feel intuitive so users can explore confidently from the start?
💡 My goal wasn’t to jump into solutions, but to understand the “why” and emotional journey behind user confusion.
Solution
Song Navigation Carousel
Under tight time constraints, I designed and iterated quickly to produce a hi-fi prototype using Lingotune's existing design system.
Process
01 Design Decision: Side-Peeking Cards
Side-peeking cards reinforced to users that there was content to explore beyond the initial song lesson card. This directly resolved the previous issue of some users believing there was only one song available during testing.

02 Design Decision: Pagination Dots
Pagination dots showed users where they were in the sequence, while side-peeking cards revealed there was more to explore. Coupled together, these elements made navigation feel predictable and easy to scan.
Outcome
Impact: Immediately Implemented!
One of the most rewarding moments was seeing my design go live in the app. The founder and lead designer reached out to compliment the redesign, making this the first feature I designed that shipped at Lingotune!
